22 May 2019
World Turtle Day, 23rd May 2019, celebrates turtles and tortoise around the world, focusing on conservation and awareness. In honour of World Turtle Day, the Nyetimber Dorset Seafood Festival is excited to announce ‘I am Turtle’, a fantastic, free to attend family show from The Makeshift Ensemble taking place at Weymouth Pavilion on 14th July.
As part of the Festival, ‘I am Turtle’ promises Sea Turtle puppets, live music and a beautiful story with an increasingly important message about plastic use, the impact we all have, and what we can do to take care of our oceans.
The Makeshift Ensemble is a Dorset based company which tours its celebrated shows for all ages across the country, in ‘I am Turtle’ the company takes us on a magical and memorable dive into the deep blue to swim with giant Sea Turtles and learn all about looking after their home.
Jacqueline Avery, Creative Director commented: “Come along and let us immerse you in some fabulous storytelling theatre, you can meet Great Uncle Archie and Pocket, our two Sea Turtle Puppets and learn all about how to look after their home. We thoroughly look forward to being part of the Nyetimber Dorset Seafood Festival for the first time this year and hope to see you there too!”.
The MakeShift Ensemble has been gaining more and more recognition for it’s hugely engaging work since the company formed in late 2015, being invited to perform all over the country and enjoying a residency at Eden Project, Cornwall for summer 2018. Don’t miss out on the chance to catch them on the 14th July. The Nyetimber Dorset Seafood Festival takes place on the 13th & 14th July around Weymouth Harbour.
I am Turtle will be showing at Weymouth Pavilion on Sunday 14th July at 11.30am and 3pm
