Fishermen's Mission

The Fishermen’s Mission provides care, compassion and support to working, retired and disabled fishermen and their families. Deep-sea fishing is dangerous and unpredictable. Hardship and tragedy are facts of everyday life in the UK’s fishing communities. It is to the Fishermen’s Mission that fishermen and their families turn when they need financial, practical and emotional support. They are the only national charity specifically providing this care; they are the Fishermen’s Charity.

Weymouth Community Volunteers

Weymouth Community Volunteers (WCV) have worked with the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival for 7 years providing marshals and other event support. WCV is a small Weymouth-based registered charity that supports and enables disadvantaged people to become active members of their local community. They offer a range of work experience opportunities, training and volunteer activities enabling their service users to enhance existing skills or learn new ones. The aims of WCV are to provide a supportive, challenging and rewarding experience that enhances opportunities to secure employment or further education/training for individuals often furthest removed, isolated or excluded in our community.

Seafish delivers expert knowledge, skills and support which help the UK seafood industry secure a sustainable and profitable future. The Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) works across all sectors of the UK seafood industry to promote good quality, sustainable seafood. Our research and projects are aimed at raising standards, improving efficiency and ensuring that our industry develops in a viable way.

The Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival raises funds for the Fishermen's Mission - the vital port of call for fishermen and their families.
