Sustainable Seafood

Sustainability Awards

Now in their third year, our Sustainability Awards continue to reward exhibitors who use regional and responsibly-sourced seafood in line with the Festival’s ethos of educating the public to eat local seafood and therefore support local fishermen.

Our Judges this year include ‘passionate about sustainability’ top Chef, Matt Budden, and the UK’s Project Director from Blue Marine Foundation, Tim Glover.

The Judges

Matt Budden

Matthew Budden is the Executive Chef of Stanwell House Hotel in Lymington.

With more than a decade of experience as an executive chef in Michelin-listed and AA Rosette-awarded kitchens in the UK, Matt Budden also brings international experience gained in restaurants across Asia and Australia. Matt’s career includes time at The Chewton Glen Hotel and the Marriot and Hilton Hotels. For Matt, local provenance is crucial.

Matt is involved in a number of initiatives, including: local school competition ‘Yes Chef’, and the Sustainable Fish City programme.

Tim Glover

Tim Glover, UK Projects Director, Blue Marine Foundation

Tim is a businessman with a background in television media. He was a main board director in ITV before setting up his own broadcast consultancy and later running European operations for a US media company. He co-founded Fish2fork, the sustainable seafood rating website, in 2009 and a year later helped set-up BLUE. As a keen sailor and angler, he is acutely aware of the man-made threats to fish populations and the wider marine environment.

There is so much information about how to choose your seafood wisely. We recommend a good place to start is the Marine Conservation Society’s website
